Taiwan is one of my favorite countries I´ve visited! I love the people, food and that the city never sleeps! You can basically go out at any time during the day/night to eat!:P

We visited Taipei, Hualien city (we also visited a town called Yuli), and lastly Taitung city. So basically from North to the South of Taiwan. I will start by giving a more general "To to do list in Taiwan", so you guys can manage to do most of the things in any of the cities in Taiwan!
However, in the end you can find a more detailed summary of what exactly we did in each city:))
To do list in Taiwan:
Visit Taiwanese Breakfast places!!!
Visit Nightmarket!! It´s like a food festival!
Hot Springs!!
Visit a nature place
Visit temples
Try Bubble tea!
Try stinky tufo if you dare ;) lol, no but I actually do NOT recommend it :PP

ok, it was like 4 am swedish time here...anyway, I strongly recommend Taiwanese breakfast places!!! I love that it´s common here to eat breakfast outside, so you can basically find a breakfast place/street food almost anywhere in Taiwan! I love the casual atmosphere, and they have many options and very good prices!
Taipei 101

One of the world´s tallest buildings. A worth visit if you like to see a view of the city! It´s quite interesting how it´s built to maintain during earthquakes and typhoons. It´s has one of the heaviest wind damper (it´s like an extremely heavy bowl on the upper part of the building, which moves slightly when it´s windy to stabilize the building´s movement).
OIA Oia Art Cafe in Taipei
OIA伊亞藝術咖啡館 , in Taipei.

We started our trip in Taipei, and other than visiting one of the highest skyscraper Taipei 101, we also went to this Alpaca café and visited Tamtung University in Taipei. However, keep in mind that these attractions are all quite far from each other! We went with scooter and train.
Visit a Nightmarket!! (we went to Dongdamen Night Market in Hualien city)
After Taipei we moved on to Hualien City, where we visited Dongdamen Night Market, Taroko National Park, a town called Yuli where we tried Hot spring and visited temples. You can also find night markets in Taipei:)

Here I tried Papaya milk, omg, it was amazing!
I also tried multiple options of local food, unfortunately after a while I didn´t have any space left in my stomach, otherwise I would have loved to try all the food options:PP

We joined Taitung hot balloon festival, make sure to buy your ticket well in advance if u want to go!
It´s around 2 hours car ride from Yuli. You can pass by Pacific Ocean if you visit east of Taiwan.
Railway Art Village in Taitung- A very special bookshop!!
Trust is high among ppl in Taiwan.
![](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/3ac37e_1d541b95e28b4c758cf5f2a5a860a253~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_980,h_735,al_c,q_85,usm_0.66_1.00_0.01,enc_auto/3ac37e_1d541b95e28b4c758cf5f2a5a860a253~mv2.jpg)
This little bookshop is one of many examples that the Trust is high among people in Taiwan. Steeling is low in Taiwan compared to Europe. Like in Singapore as well.
The bookshop do not have an owner, and you besically pick and pay for your books yourself.
Another example of trust is when I visited Tamtung University in Taipei. There was a room full of Mac computers just next to one of the entrances, there was no locker or anything, very easy for anyone to access. I asked my local friends, and they told me the trust is high among ppl, but ofc u should always keep your belongings close to you, but it´s one of the reason I love Taiwan!
Try Bubble tea!
![](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/3ac37e_94b94f314f7a4827810c6dadd17fff65~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_980,h_735,al_c,q_85,usm_0.66_1.00_0.01,enc_auto/3ac37e_94b94f314f7a4827810c6dadd17fff65~mv2.jpg)
It´s a must-try as it´s very common in southeast Asia, and originated from Taiwan! It´s basically like jelly balls inside milk-tea. Here I´m holding Matcha bubble tea.
Try stinky tufo if you dare ;)

lol, no but I actually do NOT recommend it :PP I try to eat most things when I visit a new country, so I do recommend being open and trying things that you aren´t always used to, however, this was out of my "taste range".....hahhaha.
Daytrips to other cities. Taiwan is quite small in size, and therefore easier to travel around!

We went from Taipei, to Hualian city (also a town called Yuli), and Taitung, and back to Taipei. All this with train, scooter, and car. I wouldn´t have been able to visit all these places if it wasn´t for my local friend Jennifer.
Summary of the trip
Here are the cities we visited and what we did:
We went from North of Taiwan to South.
Taipei: Tamkang University, Alpaca Café, Taipei 101 for a view.
Hualien city: Dongdamen Night Market, Taroko National Park, a town called Yuli where we tried Hot spring and visited temples.
Taichung city: Hot Balloon Festival, exploring the city at night near Liyushan park and Railway Art Village.
Back to Taipei!
What to think about:
Many things are in Chinese, like the menu in restaurants. Also, people mostly speak Chinese and Taiwanese, and therefore it´s easier to have a guided tour or preparing your Google translater ;)
The distance between the different attraction in one city can be far. We traveled with train, scooter and car. I wouldn´t have been able to visit all these places if it wasn´t for my local friend Jennifer.
Thank you to my beautiful friend Jennifer who was my guide during the trip! She had plan everything for me in detail, it means the world to me<3<33<3<3<3
