Wolfgangsee lake is truly beautiful. You only need to take a bus from Salzburg to get here. I will share how to get here and what to think about before coming!
How to get here from Salzburg
Easy! You could take Bus 150 from Salzburg and get off at St Gilgen.
It takes around 50 minutes.

What to consider before coming
The bus goes hourly from Salzburg.
There are several day trips you can make from Salzburg. Therefore, one thing to consider is how many days in total your trip is, and based on that decide what day trips you would like to do. I also made a day trip to Königssee, which is on my top recommendations. Therefore, I would consider checking it out as well. If you have time, I would recommend doing both.
Wolfgangsee lake is a beautiful lake and it has beautiful mountains around. However, It could become a bit the same scenery as you walk. There is also a housing area at some points. I see it more as a place where you can sit down next to the beautiful lake and read a book/have a picnic and just relax etc. Or maybe rent a bike.
